  • As we head toward the cyclone season around these parts - officially 1 November to 30 April - this is a term that is heard. It refers to anything that has potential to become dangerous flying debris during a cyclone; Cyclone Tracy in 1974 was thought to have gusts over 300kph (highest recording was 255kph, at which speed the only anemometer in town blew away). Hence a debris generator could be an untidy yard, a pile of coconuts, an unsecured A-frame sign, a ramshackle structure that might break up under strong wind, and so on.
